Bourbon Blackberry Lime Smash: An easy cocktail made with fresh blackberries, maple syrup, lime, sparkling water and a dash of bourbon if so desired.
I am coming at your today short and sweet. There is NO story behind this drink. It is simply a delicious cocktail I created when I had some blackberries that needed used.
Or you can add the blackberry syrup to sparkling water and add a squeeze of lime, that was my intention. But then my husband added a splash of bourbon and we both decided that together we created a bit of heaven on earth. And after the craze of the holiday season, we decided to both put our feet up and slowly sip on this fruity, rich concoction and reflect on the past year……okay, we totally zoned out, but that was exactly what we needed to do at that moment!
I am just going to tell you that THIS Bourbon Blackberry Lime Smash is perfect for cocktail parties, dinner parties, or just a Netflix binge watching. Cheers!
- 6 ounces fresh blackberries
- ¼ cup Maple Syrup
- 2 limes
- 24 ounces seltzer water
- 4 ounces bourbon
- Bring the blackberries and maple syrup and ¼ cup water to a boil in a small saucepan. Reduce to a simmer and simmer for 5-7 minutes.
- Puree mixture in a blender. At this point you can run through a sieve to remove seeds, but I personally like the chunks.
- To make the cocktail, start with 1 ounce bourbon, 1 ounce blackberry syrup and muddle together in a cocktail glass. Add 6 ounces seltzer water and a squeeze of half a lime.
