Strawberry Kiwi Smoothie: A fresh fruit smoothie highlighting fresh strawberries and kiwi. Simple to make and is the perfect sweet drink to snack on! #glutenfree #dairyfree #paleo #whole30
You all know by now, that I love my snacks!! I have my mid-morning snack, my afternoon snack and my bedtime snack without fail every single day. Snacking is what keeps me going through the day, helps me meet my nutritional needs for the day, and keeps my blood sugar level for the day. And trust me when I say, that you do not want to be around me if my blood sugar is out of whack–watch out!!
However, I can not just grab a few cookies here or there and call it a snack–even if I wanted to! I need protein and fiber and healthy carbs to keep me full and to keep that blood sugar in my happy range. And I love smoothies as a snack–perfect for on the go and I can fill them up with all sorts of nutrients. But sometimes I just want a good old fruit smoothie. You know one that is sweet and quenches my thirst on a hot day. Fruit smoothies are fabulous. But they are NOT filling nor do they contain protein–so they are my snacking enemy (back to the whole blood sugar thing.)
So what is a girl to do?
Pair the smoothie with protein for a #SavvySnacking option. And I happened to find the perfect protein choice while checking out at Walmart. Yes you can find good things in the check out lane! My new find is Lorissa’s Kitchen products -Lorissa’s Kitchen Korean Barbeque Beef, Sweet Chili Pork and Sezchuan Peppercorn Beef.
