A velvety smooth rich chocolate mousse studded with Bailey's liquor and espresso. This easy no-cook chocolate mousse has been lightened up but still tastes incredibly decadent.
When I was in college I worked as a server at a high-end steak house. And there was a dessert there that I remember to this day.
Baileys Pie that made with a rich chocolate coffee pudding flavored with Bailey's liquor.
I used that as inspiration to make a lightened-up Bailey's mousse, that still tastes rich and decadent.
Which is really just an excuse to eat two servings, am I right?!
I changed up a traditional chocolate mousse recipe (like this class version from Martha Stewart) to a healthier chocolate mousse by making the base with Greek yogurt instead of heavy whipping cream.
The yogurt is thick and rich and velvety on the tongue. Melted dark chocolate is enhanced with espresso powder and spiked with Bailey's liquor. The chocolate is folded into the yogurt the same way it would be folded into whipped cream.
It is a perfect little treat!
A Few Notes about Bailey's Mousse:
- My homemade Instant Pot Greek Yogurt works great in this recipe.
- If you want a more luxurious taste, use full-fat dairy products.
- You may want to add 1-2 more tablespoons of sugar to this chocolate mousse recipe if your chocolate is not that sweet.
- This chocolate mousse is great without the addition of the liquor as well--which therefore makes it kid-friendly.

Mocha Chocolate Mousse
Ingredients
- ½ cup milk
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon espresso powder
- pinch of salt
- ½ cup good quality dark chocolate grated
- 2 tablespoons Bailey's liquor
- 2 cups Greek yogurt
Instructions
- Over low heat, bring milk, sugar, espresso powder, and salt to a simmer while whisking to prevent milk from scalding.
- Once the sugar and espresso powder is dissolved, remove from heat and add chocolate, whisking quickly until chocolate is melted.
- Add liquor to chocolate mixture and cool.
- Once cooled, gently fold into Greek yogurt.
- Pour into four serving glasses and chill for at least 2-3 hours or overnight.

I like this chocolate mousse recipe. It's so simple and probably lighter (health wise) than the more complicated mousse recipes. I can't wait to try this and see how it tastes. I love mocha and I'm fond of Irish cream so I bet I will. I make my husband chocolate cheesecake once a year for his birthday so I like that this might taste kinda similar. I am excited to try...pinning.
