This Cherry Smoothie is a rich and creamy healthy smoothie recipe made with frozen or fresh cherries. Finished with sweet granola crumble for a delicious contrast in texture.
This easy cherry smoothie is made with wholesome ingredients:
- Cherries--rich in antioxidants and fiber
- Greek Yogurt--full of protein and calcium
- Honey--just a touch of natural sweetener. I like to use local honey to help battle seasonal allergies as well.
- Milk--again a great source of calcium and protein
- Flax Seed--a source of omega fatty acids and fiber
I also like to top this Cherry Smoothie with homemade granola for added texture.
Why Greek Yogurt in a Smoothie?
Greek yogurt is full of natural sugars, protein, and calcium--which is perfect for after a post-workout snack.
- The sugars help to replenish lost electrolytes after a run or workout.
- The calcium helps to build strong bones and protect muscles.
- The protein fuels the body.
Notes/Tips
- The addition of granola is completely optional. Feel free to omit.
- Use any type of milk you like. You can even use non-dairy yogurt for a Dairy-Free Cherry Smoothie.
- The flaxseed is optional, but it is a great way to add some nutrition without being tasted.
- Fresh or frozen cherries work for this cherry smoothie recipe.
