As parents, my husband and I are very blessed to have children who love to spend time with us. However, it is still a challenge to find time to have one-on-one time with each child. It has become even harder for me to find that time with my son as his interests have become things he enjoys to do with his dad more then with me. I am so grateful for their special relationship, but I want to be sure to have my own special time with him and for my daughter to have her own special time with her dad.
So my husband and I are striving to carve one on one time out to “date” our children. Our plan is for us to each have a date with each child once a month. This can range from a quick walk around the block to a few hours out.
I strongly encourage you to do this with your children–even if you don’t call it a “date.” Be intentional with carving out some special time with each child you have. It can be as simple as making a cup of hot cocoa and looking at old pictures or playing a board game with each other.
So today happened to be date day at our house and it was an absolute blast. My daughter choose to take her dad to a Lowes Build-It to create a Valentine’s day box and then to a craft time at Micheal’s craft store. I had found a great deal for an indoor glow in the dark putt-putt course for my son and I. This was so fun for us!!
We actually ended up at the same restaurant for lunch, so we were able to snag some pictures of each other (we did sit separately so we could have time to chat).

Looks awesome! Where’s the putt putt place?

Hey Julie! Thanks for reading. Putt putt place is in Roswell, ga called jeronimos. It wasn’t very impressive but to my son he loved it.

Hi Kristen! I’m so excited about your new website. I love the premise of it and will make sure to follow along. We happened to have “date” day this weekend as well. Chic-fil-a prompted us with their Daddy-Daughter event so I took the chance to take Marshall out as well. Throughout my whole date with Marshall I thought how we should do this more often!
