The Very Best  Banana Cake

This cake is made with butter and sour cream for the richest moistest cake. And super ripe bananas for the most banana flavor. The icing is a tangy, creamy cream cheese frosting that is the perfect balance.

In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add eggs, sour cream, vanilla, and banana and mix again.

Sift the flour with baking soda and salt. This helps keep the cake really light.

Combine the flour mixture with butter mixture and fold together until just incorporated.

Evenly spread out the batter into a lightly greased 9x13 pan.

Bake the cake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit until a toothpick inserted in middle does not come out with wet batter. The top will be light brown--much like the color of banana bread.

While the cake cools, prepare the frosting by creaming together butter, cream cheese, milk, vanilla and powdered sugar until creamy and thick.

Spread a thick layer of the icing evenly over the cake and for best results chill for 1 hour before serving.
