Chicken Pot Pie

This is the first pot pie I’ve made that my husband has raved about - because of the sauce. Excellent recipe.

This chicken pot pie is made  from-scratch with cooked chicken, potaotes, carrots, and peas in a creamy sauce. It is adorned with a homeamde pastry crust that is made with just flour, baking powder, butter, and milk.

INGREDIENTS

Prepare Dough

Combine the flour, salt, and baking powder. Add melted butter and milk to the  flour mixture and mix until just combined. Chill dough while preparing filling.

Prepare Sauce

In a large stock pan melt butter. Whisk in flour, then slowly add in stock and milk and simmer until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.

Combine Ingredients

To the cream sauce, add cooked chicken, cooked potatoes, and frozen carrots and peas. Mix to incorporate and then pour into buttered casserole dish.

Assemble

Cut chilled biscuit dough into 1/2 inch strips and create a lattice top on the chicken pot. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Bake until pastry is golden brown and filling is bubbly.
