WHOLE WHEAT ROLLS
the absolute best
*whole wheat flour
*vital wheat gluten
Sprinkle the yeast over the warm water and give a gentle stir. Let it sit for 5 minutes, or until foamy.
Mix together the flour, salt, and vital wheat gluten. Add the oil and honey to the yeast mixture and then add to the flour mixture and mix to combine.
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead until it is no longer sticky. Place in oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Once the dough has risen, punch down and shape into rectagnle and divide into 12 sections. Gently shape each section into a ball.
Place rolls into buttered baking dish and cover and let rise until doubled in size.
Bake until rolls are golden and have reached an internal temperature of 190 degrees F. Brush with butter if desired.
These are beautiful rolls. Soft and pillowy. Everyone in my family loves them!
