Red and green fruit tossed in a white serving bowl

My family's tradition for Christmas brunch always includes Hash Brown Breakfast Casserole, Homemade Cinnamon Rolls, and this Christmas Fruit Salad.

Bursting with vibrant green and red fruits, this festive winter fruit salad is the perfect addition to not just my family's holiday brunch menu, but yours as well!

It is light, bright, and bursting with vibrant flavors and nutrients that help to balance out all the indulgences of the holidays.

Notes on Ingredients

  • Fruit: I recommend seasonal winter produce in red and green hues. Green grapes, green kiwi, strawberries, raspberries, and pomegranate arils are all great options.
  • Honey Lime Dressing: Adding a simple dressing made with fresh lime juice and honey is completely optional, but it adds a special touch that makes this holiday fruit salad memorable.

Make-Ahead Instructions

This Winter Fruit Salad, like my Summer Fruit Salad, is best if it is assembled the day you intend to serve it, to keep the fruits vibrant and crisp. However, there are a few things you can do to get a jump start on preparation

  • If you are using fresh pomegranates, remove the arils, place them in an airtight container, and store them in the refrigerator for up to 2 days in advance.
  • Juice the limes up to 24 hours in advance and store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
  • Peel and slice the kiwi up to 24 hours in advance and store the sliced kiwi in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
  • It is best to not wash the strawberries, grapes, and raspberries until right before assembling the fruit salad.
  • Keep in mind, that you can assemble the fruit salad up to 24 hours in advance, and cover and refrigerate it. However, I find it is best if assembled no more than 12 hours in advance.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups green grapes
  • 4 kiwi, peeled and cut into half moons
  • 2 cups quartered strawberries
  • 1 cup fresh raspberries
  • cup pomegranate seeds
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 medium lime

Instructions

  • In a small mixing bowl combine 1 tablespoon honey with the juice of 1 medium lime. If you find it is hard to mix, heat for 15 seconds in the microwave and mix again.
  • In a large serving bowl, combine the prepared 4 cups green grapes, 4 kiwi, 2 cups quartered strawberries, 1 cup fresh raspberries, and ⅓ cup pomegranate seeds
  • Drizzle the honey mixture over the fruit, and gently toss together.
  • Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 24 hours before serving.

Notes

  • The honey lime mixture is completely optional. This fruit salad is delicious served without the dressing.
  • Be sure to wash and dry our fruits really well before preparing this fruit salad.
  • This salad is best assembled no more than 24 hours in advance, as the fruit will begin to break down and get soft.

Delicious & Beautiful presentation for Christmas Dinner with or without the honey lime mixture & a nice lite addition to an otherwise, usually, heavy meal.

Love that bit of honey and lime juice. Really gives it a burst of flavor. It's nice to have a lighter option amongst all the heavy holiday dishes.
