Peanut Butter Dog Cookies are the perfect wholesome, homemade treat for your pup. Made with just oats, banana, peanut butter, and egg, these simple dog treats come together in minutes and are loved by dogs of all shapes and sizes.
If your dog is part of the family (and mine absolutely is), you will love spoiling them with these dog cookies and my dog birthday cake. Both use pantry staples and come together with minimal effort.

Before you grab a bowl, here are a few small details that make these treats turn out just right for your four-legged friend.
- Always check with your veterinarian before introducing new foods, especially if your dog has allergies or health concerns.
- Choose natural peanut butter. Make sure it does not contain xylitol which is toxic to dogs. I prefer using natural peanut butter without added sugar or oils, but it is always best to read the label.
- Use ripe banana. A soft, spotty banana mashes easily into the other ingredients.
- Cool completely before storing in the fridge. Trapped steam can make the dog cookies quickly grow mold. Once cooled, store in the refrigerator where they will last up to a week.
How to Make Homemade Dog Cookies
Mix, scoop, bake! It is so easy to make these peanut butter dog cookies!
Step One: Prepare Batter
In a medium bowl, whisk the egg. Add in the banana and peanut butter and mash together until evenly incorporated. Add the oats and mix until combined. The mixture will be thick and slightly sticky, like my banana breakfast cookies.
Step Two: Scoop
Scoop 1 tablespoon batter out onto baking sheet, lined with silicone mat or parchment paper. Flatten slightly with a fork, so that they will bake evenly.
Step Three: Bake
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the treats are set and lightly golden on the bottom.
Let the cookies cool completely and then let your pup enjoy!
Storage Tip
Once cooled fully, store the dog cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days, or in the refrigerator for up to 7 days. If your kitchen runs warm, refrigeration is the safer option.
You can also freeze the treats in an airtight container for up to 3 months. Thaw at room temperature before serving.

Peanut Butter Oatmeal Dog Treats
Ingredients
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup mashed ripe banana, ~1 large banana
- 3 tablespoons creamy, natural peanut butter
- 1 cup rolled oats
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350℉ (175℃).
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk the egg. Add the banana and peanut butter and mix until the banana is mashed and everything is well combined. Add the oats and mix until the oats are fully moistened.
- Scoop onto a rounded tablespoon onto a cookie sheet. Flatten slightly with a fork.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes.
- Cool fully before serving to your dog.

How can I make these but tasty for humans?
Hi Karen! They are perfectly tasty as is, but to sweeten them, maybe sprinkle with some chocolate chips or try my peanut butter banana bars.

Yes, absolutely! Allow the treats to cool, place them in an airtight freezer-safe container and store them in the freezer for up to 3 months. Pull a treat or two out at a time and let fully defrost at room temperature or in the refrigerator before allowing your dog to enjoy.

I added about 1/4 shredded carrots and they turned out great! My friend has an elderly dog that needed soft treats, but my puppy loves them too!
