Ditch the frozen Bagel Pizza Bites, and make your own at home with this simple recipe for Homemade Bagel Pizzas that come together in less than 10 minutes!

    Why Use the Air Fryer

There are several advantages to making these mini pizzas in the air fryer versus the oven.

    • Keeps the Heat out of the kitchen. There is nothing worse than having to turn an oven on when the temperatures rise. By using the air fryer to make mini pizzas, you not only keep the temps in the kitchen cooler, but you also use less energy.
    • No need to wait on preheating the oven. Most air fryer models require NO preheating or only 2-3 minutes of time to preheat. That means it will be less than 10 minutes from the time you start craving Bagel Pizzas to the time you are scarfing them down.
    • The perfect texture. By using a two-step process for toasting the Bagel Pizzas, like I do when preparing English Muffin Pizzas, the bagel gets toasted, instead of soggy. And the air fryer browns the cheese perfectly as it melts, leaving you with gooey melted cheese along with bits of golden brown crispy cheese that everyone loves.

This recipe for Air Fryer Mini Pizzas is sure to become a fast favorite--literally! With just a few simple ingredients and a few minutes of time, you can easily make a homemade Bagel Pizza that makes a perfect quick lunch or snack.

    Ingredients Needed

Ingredients for bagel pizzas on counter.
    • Bagels: Plain or whole wheat bagels create a perfect base for mini pizzas. However, garlic, cheese, or everything flavored bagels would work as well and add flavor to the overall pizza.
    • Olive Oil: I add a drizzle of oil to the bagel halves to add flavor and to help them toast. Feel free to omit the oil if desired.
    • Spices: For an additional layer of flavor that makes these the BEST Bagel Pizzas, add garlic powder and oregano to the bagel halves.
    • Pizza Sauce: Use your favorite pizza sauce or spaghetti sauce.
    • Cheese: Shredded mozzarella, shredded Italian cheese blend, fresh sliced mozzarella, or sliced provolone, all work for using to top your pizzas with. I also love to add freshly grated Parmesan, but that is optional.
    • Toppings: Here is where you can go crazy or keep it simple and skip the toppings! Pepperoni, cooked and crumbled sausages, peppers, onions, olives, spinach--any topping you like on your pizza works to use on Air Fryer Pizzas.

How to Make Air Fryer Bagel Pizzas

    • If needed per your model, preheat the air fryer to 370 degrees F.
    • Brush the bagel halves with olive oil and then sprinkle with garlic powder and oregano.
    • Place the bagels in the air fryer and cook for 3 minutes at 370 degrees F.
    • Once toasted, top the bagel halves with pizza sauce and cover with cheese.
    • Return to the air fryer and cook for 4 minutes at 370 degrees F, or until the cheese is melted and golden.
    • Remove the bagel pizzas and allow to cool for 1-2 minute before enjoying.

    Storage and Reheating

If you happen to have leftover bagel pizzas, allow them to cool completely and then store them in an airtight container for 3 days.

Reheat by placing into the air fryer for 1 minute at 370 degrees. Alternatively, you can reheat the bagel pizzas in the microwave for 45 seconds to 1 minute.

    No Air Fryer?

You can easily make Bagel Pizzas using the oven if you don't have an Air Fryer, by following the same step-by-step process I use to make English Muffin Pizzas.

    • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
    • Brush each bagel half with olive oil and then sprinkle with the garlic powder and oregano.
    • Toast in oven for 5 minutes, or until just browned.
    • Remove toasted bagels from the oven and top each half with ½-1 tablespoon tomato sauce and cover with cheese.
    • Return to oven and bake for about 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

    Recipe FAQs

Do you have to use bagels?

If you don't have bagels, use English Muffins, thick slices of Italian Bread, or even hamburger buns.

Do you have to pre-toast the bagel halves before topping with sauce and cheese?

No. You can certainly skip the step of pre-toasting the bagels. However, I find this keeps the bagel pizzas from being soggy and adds a layer of flavor from the olive oil and seasonings.

    Notes

Doubling Recipe: You can make as many, or as few, Bagel Pizzas as you like. Most air fryers will comfortably fit 3 bagel halves at a time, while some models may only fit 2 at a time, and others can fit 4-6.
Toppings: Any topping you like on your pizza works to use on Air Fryer Pizzas.
Cheese: Shredded mozzarella, shredded Italian cheese blend, fresh sliced mozzarella, Parmesan cheese, or sliced provolone, all work for using to top your pizzas with.
Storage: Leftover bagel pizzas can be stored in an airtight container for 3 days after cooled to room temperature. Reheat by placing into the air fryer for 1 minute at 370 degrees. Alternatively, you can reheat the bagel pizzas in the microwave for 45 seconds to 1 minute.
To Make Using the Oven: Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Brush each bagel half with olive oil and then sprinkle with the garlic powder and oregano. Toast in oven for 5 minutes, or until just browned. Remove toasted bagels from the oven and top each half with ½-1 tablespoon tomato sauce and cover with cheese. Return to oven and bake for about 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

These pizza bagels are the best things I’ve ever tasted. My 4 year old prepared them with minimal help and we had the best time doing them together. I would highly recommend this!
