This Cream Cheese Apple Dip is ridiculously simple in the best possible way. Made with just cream cheese, brown sugar, and vanilla, it takes about 5 minutes to prepare and turns into a rich, creamy dip with an almost caramel-like flavor.
Serve this easy apple dip with crisp apple slices for an after-school snack, simple fall dessert, or party platter. And if you're preparing those apples ahead of time, I have a simple trick to keep them from turning brown without making them taste like lemon juice.

Cream Cheese Apple Dip at a Glance
- Just 3 ingredients. Cream cheese, brown sugar, and vanilla. That's it.
- Ready in 5 minutes. But the flavor improves after chilling for 30 minutes.
- Caramel-like flavor without caramel sauce. Brown sugar gives the cream cheese a rich, buttery sweetness that tastes almost like caramel.
- Perfect for making ahead. Prepare the dip up to 24 hours before serving.
- More than an apple dip. This dip pairs well with pretzels, strawberries, grapes, cookies, and graham crackers.
Kristen's Keys

After making this dip for years, I've found there are really only two things you need to get right for the creamiest texture.
- Start with room-temperature cream cheese. Cold cream cheese doesn't blend smoothly with the brown sugar. Let it soften at room temperature for 1 to 2 hours before mixing. Forgot? Keep the cream cheese sealed in its foil wrapper and place it in a bowl of warm water for 5-10 minutes.
- Give it enough time to mix. Beat the ingredients until the brown sugar has dissolved into the cream cheese and the mixture looks smooth and creamy. This is what gives the dip its silky texture instead of leaving it slightly gritty.
Happy Cooking! xo Kristen
Notes on Ingredients

- Cream Cheese: Full-fat or reduced-fat cream cheese both work. I don't recommend fat-free cream cheese because the flavor and texture aren't nearly as rich. Most importantly, use softened cream cheese so the dip becomes smooth rather than lumpy.
- Brown Sugar: Provides both sweetness and rich molasses notes that give this cream cheese dip its caramel-like flavor. I prefer light brown sugar, but dark brown sugar will work if you want a slightly deeper molasses flavor.
- Vanilla Extract: Pure vanilla extract rounds out the flavor.
- Optional Toppings: The cream cheese apple dip is delicious as-is, or you can dress it up with toffee bits, chopped nuts, mini chocolate chips, or a drizzle of caramel sauce.
How To Make Cream Cheese Apple Dip
- Combine. Place the softened cream cheese, brown sugar, and vanilla in a mixing bowl.
- Beat until creamy. Use a handheld mixer to beat for 2-3 minutes, or until the brown sugar fully dissolves and the dip is smooth and creamy.

- Chill if time allows. You can serve the dip immediately, but I prefer to refrigerate it for about 30 minutes. This gives the brown sugar additional time to dissolve and lets the flavors meld together.
- Serve. Transfer the dip to a shallow bowl and, if so inclined, top with chopped toffee bars (Heath Toffee Bits are my personal favorite), nuts, or mini chocolate chips, then serve with freshly sliced apples or your favorite dippers.

Make-Ahead + Storage Tips
- Make Ahead: Prepare the cream cheese apple dip, cover tightly, and refrigerate for up to 24 hours before serving. If you're adding toffee, nuts, or other crunchy toppings, wait until just before serving so they stay crisp.
- Storage: Store leftover apple dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. If the dip firms up in the refrigerator, let it sit at room temperature briefly and give it a quick stir before serving.
Best Apples for Apple Dip
I like using a mix of sweet and tart apples. Honeycrisp, Pink Lady, and Envy are sweet and crisp, while Granny Smith adds a tart contrast that works especially well with the sweet cream cheese dip.
How to Prepare Apples for Dipping
My favorite trick is to soak sliced apples in pineapple juice for 20 minutes prior to serving. The pineapple juice helps to slow browning without giving the apples the strong tart flavor you can get from lemon juice.
