Peanut Butter Dog Cookies are the perfect wholesome, homemade treat for your pup. Made with just oats, banana, peanut butter, and egg, these simple dog treats come together in minutes and are loved by dogs of all shapes and sizes.
If your dog is part of the family (and mine absolutely is), you will love spoiling them with these dog cookies and my dog birthday cake. Both use pantry staples and come together with minimal effort.

Key Tips to Know Before Starting
Before you grab a bowl, here are a few small details that make these treats turn out just right for your four-legged friend.
- Always check with your veterinarian before introducing new foods, especially if your dog has allergies or health concerns.
- Choose natural peanut butter. Make sure it does not contain xylitol which is toxic to dogs. I prefer using natural peanut butter without added sugar or oils, but it is always best to read the label.
- Use ripe banana. A soft, spotty banana mashes easily into the other ingredients.
- Cool completely before storing in the fridge. Trapped steam can make the dog cookies quickly grow mold. Once cooled, store in the refrigerator where they will last up to a week.
How to Make Homemade Dog Cookies
Mix, scoop, bake! It is so easy to make these peanut butter dog cookies!
Step One: Prepare Batter
In a medium bowl, whisk the egg. Add in the banana and peanut butter and mash together until evenly incorporated. Add the oats and mix until combined. The mixture will be thick and slightly sticky, like my banana breakfast cookies.

Step Two: Scoop
Scoop 1 tablespoon batter out onto baking sheet, lined with silicone mat or parchment paper. Flatten slightly with a fork, so that they will bake evenly.

Step Three: Bake
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the treats are set and lightly golden on the bottom.
Let the cookies cool completely and then let your pup enjoy!

Storage Tip
Once cooled fully, store the dog cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days, or in the refrigerator for up to 7 days. If your kitchen runs warm, refrigeration is the safer option.
You can also freeze the treats in an airtight container for up to 3 months. Thaw at room temperature before serving.
Homemade dog treats are such a small thing, but they feel special. And when your dog looks at you like you just handed them the greatest gift on earth, it makes the 15 minutes in the kitchen completely worth it.

How fun and how cute your little family is! I am going to have to try this recipe out! I have pinned it too!
Awe, thank you Pamela. I think they are pretty cute myself:)
Yum! I bet my two bostons would love these treats too!
They sure would--and they are adorable dogs 🙂
How adorable!! I know my pup would love these!
I know your pup would too 😉
Awww! Now I want a dog and a few cookies! 🙂
Ha! ha!! Well, now that we are past the training stages, I wouldn't trade her for a thing. But puppies are so much work!!
Kristen,
How special Bailey's birthday treat looks! I've only used the liver from our cow (and our neighbor's share--somehow I end up with lots of packages of liver) for dog food and not for treats . . . this looks like a delicious way to change it up for Simon, Vincent and Robert Barker.
Thanks!
Oh yes, you must try out these treats with your pups! I am sure Bailey would love to try some liver too!
This is such a great idea! My dogs would love these! I have to say I have never baked for them, but they do steal people food every chance they get. LOL
Ha! Well this would be one people food you wouldn't mind them stealing 🙂
How cute is that! I made something similar for our dog for his birthday this year - now every time I make cupcakes he thinks they are for him! i like being able to do something a little extra for our pets - they do so much for us without even trying it's the least we can do
Thanks Sarah! It was so fun to make the treats for the dogs 🙂 I was so glad to do it and so happy that my puppy could eat them without getting sick.
