Kristen's Keys for Air Fryer Bagel Pizzas

While one of the easiest recipes on my site, I have a couple tips that will help make the very best homemade bagel bites.

  • Toast the bagels first. Brushing the bagel halves with seasoned olive oil and quickly toasting before adding the sauce and toppings delivers a flavorful, crispy crust.
  • Add toppings OR use sliced cheese. Shredded cheese can blow off your bagel pizzas if not weighed down with toppings. If you are going for plain cheese, I would skip the shredded cheese, and use slices of cheese instead.

How to Make Bagel Pizzas in the Air Fryer

Think of this section as me in the kitchen walking you through the process with a few tips along the way.

Step One: Season and Toast Bagels

Brush the cut-side of the bagel half with olive oil. For additional flavor, lightly sprinkle with garlic powder and oregano. In my house, this addition is non-negotiable! Once seasoned, pop the bagels into the air fryer, and air fry for 2-3 minutes to lightly toast.

Step Two: Add Toppings

Remove the toasted bagels from the air fryer. Spread with a thin layer of pizza sauce, Once toasted, top the bagel halves with pizza sauce and cover with cheese.

Step Three: Air Fry

Place the assembled bagel pizzas back in the basket or try of the air fryer and air fry for 3-4 minutes, until the cheese is melted and golden.

Recipe Notes & Modifications

  • No Bagels? This recipe works using thick slices of Italian Bread, hamburger buns, or even English muffins (for an air-fried version of my English muffin pizza).
  • Go Mini or Large: For a kid-friendly snack or classic bagel bite size, opt for mini bagels. For lunch-sized portions or larger appetites, choose larger bagels.
  • Get Creative With Toppings: Swap pizza sauce for marinara, buffalo sauce, pesto, or BBQ sauce. Add diced veggies, leftover chicken, or even leftover taco meat (swap the pizza sauce for salsa). Let your imagination guide you.
  • Make-Ahead Tips: Season and toast bagel halves. Once toasted, place on a sheet pan and add sauce, cheese, and toppings of choice. Flash freeze for 1-2 hours, then transfer to freezer-safe bag. Air-fry from frozen at 370℉ for 5-8 minutes, or until warmed through and the cheese has melted.

Air Fryer Bagel Pizzas

Servings: 4
Prep: 2 minutes
Cook: 7 minutes
Total: 9 minutes
Three perfectly cheesy bagel pizzas in air fryer topped with pepperoni and seasonings.
With a crispy seasoned crust, melty cheese, and toppings of choice, these air fryer bagel pizzas are ready in less than 10 minutes and are WAY better than anything store-bought.

Ingredients

  • 2 standard bagels, or 4 mini bagels
  • 1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon oregano
  • 3 tablespoons pizza sauce
  • ½ cup shredded Mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese, optional

Instructions

  • If needed, preheat the air fryer to 370℉ (180℃).
  • Brush the bagel halves with olive oil and then sprinkle with garlic powder and oregano. Place the bagel halves in a single layer in the air fryer basket or tray and air-fry for 3 minutes, or until golden.
  • Remove the bagel halves from the air fryer. Spread each half with a thin layer of pizza sauce and sprinkle evenly with mozzarella cheese. Add parmesan cheese if using, along with any additional toppings desired.
  • Return the bagel pizzas to the air fryer basket or tray and air fry 4 minutes at 370℉ (180℃) or until the cheese is melted and golden. Note: If you just want your cheese melted, not golden, cook for only 3 minutes.
  • Remove the bagel pizzas and allow to cool for 1-2 minute before enjoying.

Equipment

Notes

Doubling Recipe: You can make as many, or as few, Bagel Pizzas as you like. Most air fryers will comfortably fit 3 bagel halves at a time, while some models may only fit 2 at a time, and others can fit 4-6.
Toppings: Any topping you like on your pizza works to use on Air Fryer Pizzas.
Cheese: Shredded mozzarella, shredded Italian cheese blend, fresh sliced mozzarella, Parmesan cheese, or sliced provolone, all work for using to top your pizzas with.
Storage: Leftover bagel pizzas can be stored in an airtight container for 4 days after cooled to room temperature. Reheat in air fryer for 1-2 minutes at 380℉.
Freeze in Advance: Season and toast bagel halves.
