How to Store Leftover Ham
- Refrigerate: Once your ham has cooled, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 4-5 days. Deli ham should be used within 4 days of opening the package (or purchasing from the deli counter).
- Freeze: Extend the life of leftover ham by storing sliced ham or cubed ham in a well sealed freezer-safe container and freezing it for up to 3 months.
- Ham Bone: Wrap the ham bone well in foil and then place it in a freezer-safe container and store in the freezer for up to 3 months.
How to Reheat Ham
If you are using ham in one of the recipes, add it to the dish when directed. If you would like to reheat leftover ham to simply just enjoy, keep in mind that it can easily dry out when reheated. To prevent that from happening, cover the bottom of a baking dish with chicken stock, pineapple juice, or water and add in the slices of ham. Cover tightly with foil and bake at 300 degrees F for 15-20 minutes just warm through. The liquid and foil will help to keep the ham juicy.
