Meal Plan Tips

These tips are designed to help you cut down on food prep and food waste, by using up leftovers.

  • This week is all about hearty soups and salad. You will use a lot of broth, celery, onions, carrots, and fresh ingredients for salads.
  • On Sunday, prepare 2 loaves of Italian bread (1 recipe) and serve one with the Beef Soup and save one to use for the Beef Stew.
  • Use 1 large package of stew meat and divide between beef soup and beef stew.
  • Use Yukon gold potatoes for potato soup, beef stew, vegetable beef soup, and for Chicken Sheet Pan Meal
  • Bake bacon on Monday night to use for spinach salad, to serve on top of the potato soup, and for Buffalo Chicken Bake.
  • Use extra hard-boiled eggs to make egg salad for lunches.
  • No Instant Pot to make stew? No problem--use the same recipe for beef stew, but cook in your slow cooker on LOW for 8 to 10 hours or until beef is very tender. About an hour before serving, whisk the cornstarch slurry into the crockpot. Replace lid and allow broth to thicken slightly as stew finishes cooking.
  • Use leftover spinach to make spinach pizza.
  • Use ricotta for both spinach pizza and stuffed shells.

∗ How to Use Meal Plans∗

Each meal plan includes a printable guide complete with a shopping list and tips to cut back on prep and minimize food waste. I also base each meal plan based on seasonal produce.

Keep in mind the following tips when using these meal plans.

  • Print the meal plan to hang on your fridge and print each recipe to make your grocery list and prepare dinner! You can hit the name of each recipe on the meal plan and it will take you directly to that recipe!
  • Right-click each link and hit open in a new tab so you have all the recipes open at once. Hit the jump to recipe and print off recipes. There is a check box to check off ingredients you already have. This will make shopping a bit easier.
  • Be sure review meal plan for time-saving tips and key grocery lists. Keep in mind I only create the grocery lists based on dinner and assuming your spice cabinet is stocked with common spices.
