A Few Helpful Tips

  • Start with Liquid. Any time you are blending a smoothie, it is best to place the liquid components into the blender FIRST, to ensure a creamy
  • Use Leftover Baked Sweet Potatoes. You don't need homemade sweet potato puree to make this smoothie! Simply add the flesh of a leftover baked or Instant Pot Sweet Potatoes, right to the blender.
  • Thicken and Sweeten with Bananas. Frozen banana chunks help to sweeten this smoothie and make it thick and luscious, without the need for refined sugars.
  • Opt for Coconut Milk. Coconut milk adds richness to the smoothie and pairs exceptionally well with sweet potatoes, but you can use any non-dairy or dairy milk you like.
  • Swap out Sweet Potatoes for Pumpkin. No sweet potatoes on hand? Use canned pumpkin their place.
  • Add Texture. Top with granola, chia seeds, or a drizzle of almond butter for texture and added nutrients.
  • Add Protein: Feel free to add a scoop of your favorite protein powder to bump up the protein.

Notes

Coconut Milk: Feel free to use any non-dairy or even dairy milk you like.
Maple Syrup: I find the banana adds just the right amount of sweetness and creaminess to the Sweet Potato Shake, however, if you need this smoothie to be sweeter, increase the amount of maple syrup used.
Craving a Pumpkin Smoothie? Use canned pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling) in place of the sweet potato puree.

  1. This looks delicious, I’ve never even thought of using walnuts to top a smoothie. Off to try this out! Thank you

  2. Next time I will make it without the maple syrup, it was a bit on the sweeter side. I saved it though.

    Thanks 😋

  3. 5 stars
Made it without the nutmeg (because I didn't have any) and without the maple syrup (because sometimes it's too much) and it was STILL....ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!!!!

  4. I don't think I have enough sweet potatoes in my life. I'm totally trying this smoothie! Pinned and making soon 🙂
