Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and made with very little oil, Air Fryer Sweet Potato Cubes come together in about 20 minutes with just 1 gram of fat and 4 grams of fiber per serving.

Why We Love Crispy Air Fryer Sweet Potato Cubes
The air fryer makes quick work of potatoes! I turn to it time and time again, whether I'm making crispy air fryer potato cubes, air fryer potato skins, air fryer homemade fries, or air fryer baked potatoes. These sweet potato cubes are no exception, and after one batch, I think you'll see why.

- Super Easy Side Dish. The hardest part of this recipe is chopping the sweet potatoes. Once that is done, this side dish comes together fast to mimic the flavor and texture of oven-roasted sweet potatoes.
- Versatile. You can change up the seasonings in a variety of ways when making Air Fryer Sweet Potatoes, and serve them as more than just a side dish. Use them to make Sweet Potato Burritos, a Ground Beef Sweet Potato Bowl, or a Breakfast Burrito. They are also delicious when served with a poached egg for a satisfying breakfast. The options are endless.
- Amazing Flavor & Texture. Air Fryer Sweet Potatoes are flavorful and crispy on the outside, with a center so soft it nearly melts in your mouth. Just plain good!
Notes on Ingredients and Equipment

- Sweet Potatoes: Use any variety of sweet potatoes you like for this recipe. Purple sweet potatoes, Japanese sweet potatoes, or regular sweet potatoes all work with the timing provided. I look for sweet potatoes that are firm, with minimal blemishes or wrinkled skin.
- Oil: I recommend using a small amount of oil rather than cooking spray. For the oil, canola, olive, or avocado oil are all good choices for this recipe.
- Seasonings: The options for seasoning sweet potatoes are endless, and I share some of my favorites below. Keep it simple and season with kosher salt or seasoned salt. I love using a mix of salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and paprika, as it adds amazing flavor to the earthy sweet potatoes.
- Air Fryer: Air fryers vary widely by brand, but all will work well with this recipe. If you have a compact air fryer, you may need to work in batches to avoid overcrowding.
Seasoning Options
- Cinnamon Sugar: Toss the cubed sweet potatoes with ½ teaspoon oil, a pinch of salt, ½ tablespoon sugar, and ½ teaspoon cinnamon.
- Tex-Mex: Toss sweet potatoes with ½ teaspoon oil and 2 teaspoons Taco Seasoning or Fajita Seasoning.
- Savory Onion: Toss sweet potatoes with ½ teaspoon oil and 2 teaspoons Copycat Lipton Onion Soup Mix.
- Cajun: Toss potatoes with ½ teaspoon oil and 2 teaspoons Homemade Cajun Seasoning.
- Low-Sodium/Salt-Free: Cut the salt to ¼ teaspoon OR omit completely if on a salt-free diet.
- Add Fresh Herbs: Toss the sweet potatoes with the oil, ½ teaspoon kosher salt, and ½ tablespoon minced fresh thyme leaves, or ½ tablespoon minced fresh rosemary.
How to Make Air Fryer Sweet Potato Cubes
The following tips are provided to help you achieve perfect results. You will find the ingredient quantities and detailed instructions in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.
- Cut into evenly sized cubes. Cut the sweet potatoes into pieces that are all about the same size to ensure they cook evenly.
- Spread out the potatoes in the basket or tray of your air fryer. Avoid too much overlap in the air fryer so the sweet potato cubes cook evenly and develop a crispy exterior.

- Flip Once. Halfway through air-frying, remove the air fryer basket, give the sweet potatoes a good shake, and return them to the air fryer. This will make each side crispy and golden.

Storage and Reheating
- Refrigerate: Let the sweet potatoes cool slightly, transfer them to an airtight container, and refrigerate for up to 5 days.
- Freeze: Allow the sweet potatoes to cool to room temperature. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet and flash-freeze for about 60 minutes. Transfer the frozen potatoes to a freezer-safe airtight container, and store them in the freezer for up to 3 months.
- Reheat: Whether frozen or refrigerated, reheat air fryer sweet potatoes in the air fryer to keep their crispy texture intact. Reheat refrigerated sweet potatoes at 350 degrees F for 3-4 minutes, and frozen at 350 degrees F for 15 minutes, shaking halfway.
